Patio home living verses single family home is a choice every person buying a home has to make. They are both types of homes. Patio homes are constructed in such a way that each house is attached to the other. They have a design that is similar. The land on which the houses are built is not really large so they are built close together. The dwellings are not very big because of the size of the land.

There are shared walls separating each home and these walls give them privacy. Normally, they have no garden but there is a patio that faces a common area. Common areas including driveways are shared by all community members. The dwellings are located in secluded suburbs in the countryside. The communities are small therefore each person knows the other. They also restrict the entrants to the residences thus giving a sense of security.

The homes are maintained by a homeowners association. Among the services that the association caters for are lawn mowing, security guards and garbage collection. It also caters for pest control on the exterior, landscaping and painting of the outside areas. A fee is paid for the services. Architectural control is also done by this association.
